INSIGHT FOCUSED THERAPY
Insight Focused Therapy is an exciting new integrative Christian model of counselling - the innovation of Pauline Skeates - Therapist/Trainer of Auckland New Zealand.
The concepts of IFT are drawn from ideas inspired by the latest neurobiological research, mindful-awareness techniques, and Christian Spirituality. It is gentle and non-invasive therapy that incorporates attitudes of grace and kindness, helping people to discover insight that will move them beyond old ways of thinking and behaving into a more abundant and peaceful way of life.
You will find this method is simple to use and delightful as it empowers you towards life changing personal revelations and insights. Insights that have sustaining impact on all levels of relating.
Simply put, it unleashes the essence of the Christian message - unconditional love - a love that can be experienced not just with your head but also with your heart.
You begin the IFT process by applying the principals of mindful-awareness. The sensitive and kind support inherent within the process will reduce fear and soften your usual coping strategies. You will be able to follow your trails of awareness in an open and accepting way long enough for implicit knowledge and new insights to emerge on the screen of your conscious mind. The resulting life-changing benefits will have a positive effect on you and all your relationships.
Who can use it?
IFT can be used by mentors, coaches, advisors, pastoral workers and therapists. It can also be used as a personal development tool. In fact, anyone can use this loving, open and accepting inner dialogue.
The research of Friedrickson (2010) shows that even a minimum of eight minutes of mindful-awareness practice per day will be registered positively within your mind/brain dynamic. This has been measured as an increased sense of wellbeing across all the arenas of life. With this in mind, we offer people the opportunity to attend seminars for the purpose of personal growth and spiritual awakening.
Components of IFT
You will learn aspects of the latest neuroscience research drawn from experts in the field, such as: Siegel, Schore, LeDoux, Cozolino and others, together with the principles of Attachment Theory, Fixed Point vs Emergent Living, Coherence and Clean Language Theories, biological principals and spirituality.
These various theories will be taught in an exciting and integrative way with an emphasis on showing how these aspects of personhood intertwine and correlate in the construction of our perception of self.
In particular, you will learn how the mechanics of some of these basic human drives are the very reason why you become and remain trapped in unwanted and negative patterns of behaviour.
You will also learn how to use these very same principals to take mastery of your life and make the most out of what it is to be human.
